Six to two in the Butler lot

The Fresno Flea Market opens at 6 a.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the Butler Parking Lot of the Big Fresno Fairgrounds, on South Chance Avenue in Fresno, and closes at 2 p.m., weather permitting. Admission is free. Parking in the fairgrounds lot is free on Friday and Saturday and $3 on Sunday.

The market’s website counts “hundreds of local vendors.” Its Instagram account claims over 600 vendor spaces, and an April 2026 post put the figure at “over 600+ weekly vendors.” The goods are new and used. The market’s own list runs to fresh produce, local crafts, plants, electronics, makeup, toys, automotive items, and cell phone accessories. The fairgrounds adds home furnishings, clothing, and collectibles. The operators invite sellers of every kind, whether “just looking to clean out the garage” or “considering a new business venture.”

Food trucks and a December Santa

Food trucks sell alongside the stalls. The market names homemade Mexican favorites, fresh seafood, hot dogs, Chinese food it calls “super popular,” boba tea, and churros. A December 2025 post called families out on Sunday, December 21st, at 10 a.m., to see Santa Claus, who would hand out free candy canes and take pictures.

The market keeps to the fairgrounds calendar. It closes for the Big Fresno Fair, the Hmong New Year Celebration, and the Spring Home and Garden show. For the 2026 Big Fresno Fair it is closed October 7 through 18.

The land under Sunnyside

The Instagram account calls the market “one of Fresno’s biggest and oldest flea markets.” The fairgrounds page calls it “new and improved.” The present arrangement dates from the fall of 2021.

On September 10, 2021, Liz Gonzalez of FOX26 News reported that the property under the Sunnyside Swap Meet in Fresno had been sold. Bryan Parisi had owned and operated Sunnyside for ten years, and he said the land had been for sale the entire time. “In the last five years, we’ve been looking over our shoulder, hoping no one would come around and buy it,” he told the station. “We were kind of in denial, hoping it would never sell.” The buyer remained a mystery.

Parisi also owned the Fresno Fair Swap Meet, five miles away. Its space would take the hundreds of Sunnyside vendors, which would, in Parisi’s words, “keep them working, keep them feeding their families.” One of those vendors was Curtis Lee, who sold cell phone chargers, accessories, and other gadgets from his stand. “I have dedicated ten years here,” Lee said. “I’m used to this place.” He hoped the bigger location could provide bigger opportunities.

Sunnyside’s last market day was Sunday, September 26th. Its closing notice thanked customers for “a wonderful 10 years at this location.” It invited them to the fairgrounds beginning Friday, October 22nd, adding, “Our dedicated vendors along with our Sunnyside staff look forward to seeing you soon!” According to the swap meet’s Facebook page, the vendors and the entire staff moved to the new Fresno Flea Market. Lee’s last words to the reporter were, “We’re gonna miss this place.”
