Write to the guide

The Long Way takes letters at one address: hello@thelongway.guide. Write to it with a correction, a closure, this year’s dates for a fair or a town’s days, or a place the guide lacks.

Corrections

Hours change, roads wash out, springs close for the season, and fairs move their dates. When an entry is wrong, send the link to its page, say what it gets wrong, and say what is true now.

Add a link to the source that shows it: the place’s own page, or the agency, fair board, or chamber that posted the change. An entry is changed only from a source, the same way it was compiled.

If you run a place

If you keep a place that is in the guide, write from the place’s own address or point to the page on its own site that shows the change. If the place has closed for good, say so, and the entry will carry that status.

A place the guide lacks

To put a place forward, send its name, its town, and a link to its own page. It goes in when it passes two of three tests. A stranger would drive forty minutes out of the way for it. A one-time visitor with no membership and no reservation can walk in and have the whole of it. It could not be moved to another town without losing something.
