- On CA-29 southbound, turn left onto Oakville Cross Rd. Continue on Oakville Cross Rd. for 2.5 miles. Turn right onto Silverado Trail. Hatchery entrance is 1.2 miles on the right hand side.

- Weekends: Staff is not normally available on weekends. Weekend visitation is based on seasonal availability, please call ahead. The hatchery is open for visitation seven days a week. If you would like to request a tour of the facility, please call ahead to ensure we have available staff on hand to assist with your request.

Known as "the hatchery tucked between the grapes," Silverado Fisheries Base is located within the world famous wine producing Napa Valley, and is the main fish distribution facility for the San Francisco and Bay Area region.

- 1957Silverado Fisheries Base commenced operations in 1957 to replace the recently closed East Side Rearing Reservoir facility in Napa. wildlife.ca.gov
- 1970sSilverado expanded operations by including a quarantine facility for importing fish egg stock, and increased its fish distribution capabilities by becoming a transfer station for larger, catchable size rainbow trout. wildlife.ca.gov
- 2020The Silverado Fisheries Base suffered power outages and came under evacuation orders as a result of the Glass Fire; Feather River Hatchery incubated and reared the Inland Chinook Salmon Program eggs until Silverado could again accommodate the fish. lakeconews.com
