- From Stanley: drive south on Hwy 75 4.25 miles to Redfish Lake Road (FS Road 214), then along FS Road 214 to the Redfish Visitor Center; the cabin is south of the amphitheater behind the Visitor Center.
- Access
- No drinking water available; bring drinking water, melt snow, or treat water from Fishhook Creek. Pack it in, pack it out. No refunds for bad weather. No Wi-Fi or telephone. Cell service intermittent. Cabin is not ADA accessible. Pets allowed off furniture. Livestock not allowed. Maximum of six people.

A stay at the historic Redfish Cabin is like having your own private Idaho! Nestled in the trees above the northern shore of Redfish Lake at an elevation of 6,570 feet, the historic (Civilian Conservation Corps 1930's era) cabin offers a perfect getaway for a small family or group of friends.

- 1933A guard station, a garage-storeroom, and a latrine were erected at the site as headquarters for a recreation and fire patrolman; EC and NIRA funds and CCC labor completed them between 1933 and 1935. govinfo.gov
- 1933On or about June 1, 1933, the Redfish Lake Camp was established at Redfish Lake with C.H. Ramage as first superintendent; its first-year work included building the Redfish Lake Guard Station. govinfo.gov
- 1949An addition of 4.35 acres was made to the site, needed as headquarters for a Fire Control Aide stationed there during the summer months. govinfo.gov
- 1996The Forest Service identified the Redfish Guard Station's two extant buildings, the dwelling and a pit toilet, as eligible for the National Register. govinfo.gov
