Getting there
From Fairview, Utah, for 8.5 miles proceed east on Utah Highway 31. Then turn east (left) to Utah highway 264 for .2 miles, then turn left (north) through the paved parking lot to the gravel road, then right (FS road 0124 downhill). You will pass the Gooseberry Campground sign, at the next intersection (FS road 0124) make a slight left and proceed through the gate.
Fees
Mammoth Guard Station and Lake Cabin: $50 per group size 4, proposed $75 per group size 4.
Access
Travel trailers and RVs are not permitted at this facility. Pets are not permitted inside the cabins. Cell service is not available. This guard station is solar powered; power is for lights and phone charging only. Basic cleaning supplies provided. The grounds are an active administrative site; visitors can expect to see Forest Service personnel using the grounds adjacent to the cabins.
Walk-in or reserve
Reservation via Recreation.gov; combination key code required (call the Ferron Ranger District at (435) 384-2372 or Sanpete Ranger District at (435) 283-4151 at least three days before arrival). If not reserved, the cabins are available first-come, first-served through Forest Service offices in Ephraim, Ferron, or Price. Walk-in reservations may only be made for two nights at a time.
