On Labor Day morning in Fountain the road closes at nine o’clock, and the parade starts on the hour. By then the children of the Kids Market have checked in with whatever they have made to sell. Their pop-up is one corner of the Fall Festival, which the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce puts on each year.
The 2026 festival fell on Monday, September 7, 2026, and ran from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM under the theme “Fabrics of America.” After the parade came live music, local vendors, food trucks and a cornhole competition. The Chamber also held a drawing for a handmade quilt, with proceeds going to the 56th Annual Fountain Valley Fall Festival.
The Chamber’s page sends the parade “down Main Street.” KOAA News5, reporting an earlier year, gave the route as Ohio Avenue from Main Street to Metcalfe Park. That year the line included local ROTC groups, Shriners and Fair Royalty, and the station counted hundreds along the curb.
Metcalfe Park, at 704 E Ohio Ave., is the festival’s ground. Its ten acres hold picnic tables, shelters, barbecue grills, playgrounds and open lawns under mature trees, with a bandstand at the center for public events. A pump track, a dog park and a horse arena sit on the same ground. The Trails and Open Space Coalition says the park has been the site of local celebrations for decades.
KOAA did not give a date for the festival it covered, but called it the 53rd, with the theme “Blues and Barbeque.” Darlene Wilcher, a Fountain resident, told the station what her family watches for: “We love watching the marching band, the horses, he loves the tractors, she loves the cheerleaders, so we love the variety that they have.”
