Diana Pool lies at the bottom of a short walk down the North Fork of the Merced River, where Bean Creek comes in from the side. Cliffs flank the water, and Diana Fall, roughly 20 feet high, drops into the pool. The Forest Service and the Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau both call it a swimming hole, good from early spring until mid-summer while the water runs relatively high.
The trailhead is on Greeley Hill Road, also called Bull Creek Road, just west of where the road crosses the North Fork. From Coulterville the road runs east to it. From Highway 120 the approach turns south about 4 miles west of Buck Meadows onto County Road J20. The Forest Service names that road Smith Station Road, and the tourism bureau names it Smith Stratton Road. A sharp left onto Greeley Hill Road leads a little more than 4 miles to the trailhead.
From the road the trail follows the river downstream through woods and open ground. The Forest Service puts the walk at 1.4 miles (2.25 km), easy and mostly flat. Both sources also say the pool comes at about a mile and a quarter. Leashed dogs are allowed. The site has no restrooms, no drinking water, and no picnic tables.
The pool is in Northern Mariposa County, with a Coulterville address, and is administered from the Groveland Ranger District office on Highway 120. On the district’s page, last updated August 7, 2026, the site was listed as open.
