The jewelry showcase at Avenues Antiques & Collectibles, 912 E. Lincolnway in Cheyenne, got new glass in March 2026. The neighbors at Superior Glass and Mirror did the work, and the store announced it on its page: “No more scratches, only reflections!” Behind that glass is the store’s specialty, vintage Native American jewelry: Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi pieces, heishi beadwork, and inlay, some of it laid out in a barn-board display case. Moccasins, baskets, and pottery are sold alongside. The rings run to every style and birthstone. One summer post showed six of them under ultraviolet light, two in fine gold and four in sterling silver. A ring set with seed pearls is blue in daylight and glows red under the lamp.
The store calls itself family owned and operated and sells fine antiques, genuine turquoise, furniture, and oddities. Shoppers walk in; there is no appointment. Layaway lets a buyer pay at their own pace, and the store promotes it ahead of Christmas.
Oak drawers and blue onion
The furniture runs large. “They don’t make them like they used to!” the store wrote under photographs of its bigger pieces in April 2026. Postings from that year list the following:
- an oak apothecary doctor’s cabinet with many drawers, a pull-out writing desk, and a revolving door with swing-out compartments lined in green felt
- a carved formal dining set in olive and ash wood with two leaves and six chairs, two of them captain’s chairs
- a curio cabinet with glass on all sides
- a floor lamp with a hand-painted globe
- a glass epergne and large oriental vases
- a Victorian couch, a carved trunk, a wool ranch blanket, and snowshoes
- pink and blue brides’ baskets
- stained-glass billiards lamps carrying advertising, with other vintage advertising
Mid-century modern has its own department, coded ZEN. On a Sunday in January 2026 the family nearly completely rearranged it. The work took about six hours and left more room to walk through.
The kitchenware includes blue onion canisters and dishes from several makers. The store tells the pattern’s story this way. It began as a popular late Ming Dynasty design of painted flowers, peaches, and pomegranates. It is believed that European adapters, unfamiliar with those fruits, took them for onions, and the name stuck. In summer the store suggests old iron and wood for the yard: a cast-iron bistro set, “heavy so windproof,” a wagon wheel by the driveway, an iron bed frame for climbing vines, or an old school desk turned into a planter.
A wall on East Lincolnway
The building’s wall carries a mural by the artists UCSepia and KORE, painted in 2021 as part of Paint Slingers. That program’s list of completed walls for the year includes this one at 912 E. Lincolnway. Next door, at 914, the Bear Necessities wall from the same list is credited to 80204, MEHKA, and PYROE.
The store gives its founding as 1994. It has also been listed as Avenue’s Flea Market & Antiques. A swap-meet directory describes it under that name as an indoor market open year round, with 50 vendors selling antiques and collectibles, books, clothing, used merchandise, furniture, and Western memorabilia. Laramie County’s assessor roll for tax year 2027 shows the parcel as Lot 6, Block 380, a commercial lot of 0.2 acres. Dan Wellman and his wife are the owners of record.
In January 2026 the store said it had been mentioned in HGTV’s “Antique Stores Designers Love” by Taryn Kilty. The Wyoming entry in that feature names Avenues alongside The Bent & Rusty in Laramie as places a designer stops when treasure hunting closer to home. In its post the store said, “As a small, family owned business it really makes all of our efforts feel recognized.” It added that it hoped to “serve Cheyenne Wyoming for many more years to come.”
The store stays open through the city’s July rodeo. On Cheyenne Day in 2026 it posted that its doors were open. When Cheyenne Frontier Days ended that month, it thanked its customers and asked anyone passing through Cheyenne to swing by.
