The main event is a two-day rodeo which kicks off Friday evening and a second event held Saturday afternoon at the Conrad Rodeo Grounds.

- 1939The celebration was started in 1939 as a "Days of 49" type event with a colorful western themed parade and gambling, and its proceeds went into a trust used only on community betterment projects. conradwhoopup.com
- 1959The Lions directors appointed a committee to select a site, build an arena, and organize a rodeo; the committee patterned the Conrad arena after the Oral Zumwalt Arena near Missoula, with the hillside used as its grandstand. conradwhoopup.com
