Hansen Hay Day begins with a parade. In the 2026 edition, held Saturday, July 18, the parade stepped off at 10 a.m., and at 11 the rest of the day opened: food, vendors, free laser tag for all, a free waterslide “to beat the heat,” and live music by Coel Harris. The city’s announcement listed the range of the day in pairs: “Reptiles to goats, haircare to tattoos, hot dogs to grilled cheese!” The festivities ran until 3 p.m. The city’s notice used both names, Hansen Day and Hansen Hay Day, and closed with “Bring the family down and have a Hansen Hay Day!”

The evening before, Friday, July 17, a community softball game started at 6 p.m. The city’s invitation ran: “All are welcome to play, or cheer on your community!” At dusk the Hansen Community Library showed The Super Mario Galaxy Movie outdoors.

The 2025 edition followed the same order on Saturday, July 19. A parade at 10 a.m. was followed by food, music, bingo, vendors and free laser tag at City Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The city called it “this Hansen Tradition,” and the 2026 announcement did not say where the afternoon was held. Both years the event fell in mid-July, a few weeks after the Fourth. The 2025 notice carried a warning to match the season: personal and public fireworks are prohibited in the City of Hansen.

The City of Hansen runs the day and posts it on its own calendar. City hall stands at 388 Main St. South.
