A French Bulldog rides on every cork from Bad Bitch Cellars. Her name was Stella. She also appears in the logo and, by the winery’s own account, “hidden on labels here and there.” The winery buys grapes, juice, and skins from vines in the California and Washington wine regions. Everything after that happens in-house: fermentation, bottling, corking, foiling, and labeling.

The winery has two listed addresses. Its website, Colorado.com, and its Instagram place it in Eaton, at 603 E. Collins Street. The Colorado Wine directory and the winery’s Facebook page give 241 East 1st Street in Ault, with cross streets of Highway 85 and Highway 14. Tastings are by reservation, arranged through an email address that begins “cellardog.” Colorado Wine lists Teres Kernan as the contact.

The shop catalog has offered a Peach Chardonnay called Pistol Peach, a Reckless Red Merlot, and a Bootlegger Red marked as an award winner. Colorado Wine adds a red blend, a Strawberry Reisling, reserve wines, and a Moscato line. The winery states that all its wines are award winners, “GOLD, SILVER, AND BRONZE.”

Much of the work is custom. The winery makes wine to order and prints labels for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, fund raisers, or a business logo, under the motto “YOUR WINE, YOUR WAY, YOUR SPECIAL DAY!” The truck also goes out to festivals. In July 2026 the winery told “Woodland Park drinkers” it would be at the wine festival there and asked for special requests “so I can put it on the truck.”

The winery’s own story begins “once upon a time” with two women. One was a brunette in corporate sales and the other a blonde in the house-flipping business. They toured local wineries wherever they traveled and “drank so much wine they needed to start making their own.” The idea came, they write, one wine-fueled night in a hot tub after another 15-hour workday.

Stella was at their side. She was born 8-23-04 and was the alpha of the pack, “known to take the lead with dogs as large as German Shepard’s.” Between naps she greeted customers and patrolled the property. She died on 5-8-17. The winery calls her its namesake, one who “cannot be replaced.”

A younger dog appears on the Facebook page now. Frankie Merle turned five on July 29, 2026, and one post shows her setting a “grand dog” straight. She has, the post says, “an A type personality like her Mama.”
