- Guests are permitted to visit Lick Observatory at night by purchasing a ticket to the Summer Series from June through September.

- The observatory is more than 20 miles from downtown San Jose along Mt. Hamilton Road at an elevation of 4,200 feet.

- Day admission is free; Summer Series tickets sold separately.

- Day visits to East Grounds and Shane Gallery open 9:00 am – 5:00 pm daily.
- Access
- No gasoline or automotive services on Mt. Hamilton or anywhere along the road outside of San Jose. Winter road closures possible due to snow.
- Walk-in or reserve
- Night visits are by ticket through the Summer Series; walk-in day visits do not require reservations.
