- Getting there
- From Libby, travel 7 miles south on US Highway 2. Turn right onto Bear Creek Road 278 and continue for 15 miles to Libby Creek Road 231. Turn right and follow approximately 2 miles to the signed panning area.

- The parking area at the panning area is a small clearing adjacent to Libby Creek. Vaulted toilet and camping facilities are available. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on leashes. Howard Lake Campground is located 1 mile south on Road 231.
